Schindler Haughton PI

This project was a bit more involved than my other projects. This is a PI (position indicator) that was found in a Schindler Haughton elevator. It is an LCD display that was made by CE Electronics in the 80s. Unlike modern displays, this indicator has one input per segment/letter, so this can easily be connected to an Arduino controller! That's exactly what I did. I set it up where you use a remote control to input a floor, and then pressing go makes the indicator simulate going to that floor. Since there are two digits, the possibilities are 1-99. Check out my project video to see how I turned this into a fully working indicator!

Fun Fact: This indicator is still made today, but it is much smaller and uses a serial communication link instead.
