Vintage Kone

In this project, I designed and created my own elevator button contact to make some pieces of an elevator part functional.

This was one of the most complex projects I have done. At the beginning of this project I had two things: A plate and a button. The button did not have any contacts and the plate had no way to mount a button.

The two items I started with

This meant I had to get a bit more creative with how I was going to get this working. My first idea was to use an existing button contact, but after looking through my extra parts, I discarded that idea. My final solution was to design and 3D print my own button contact to work with the original button. This design had to hold the original button, complete a electrical circuit when the button was pressed, and have a spring to push the button back out. After some trial and error, I eventually came up with a working design.

After I created the button design, I then turned to designing the LED assembly (which was much easier). My design was a simple box with three sections (one for each lamp). Once my two parts were made, I just had to wire them up to a battery and the project was done!
